If there’s one thing I’m an expert on, it’s dishes, all varieties, all price ranges. Through experience, I have determined there are certain shapes that are not desirable.
So, the girls were coming over for breakfast and I wanted to choose a table setting that had a breakfast feel to it. What kind of imagery conveys the thought of early morning better than roosters, right? I had just the perfect placemats!
Admittedly, since it was early morning, I wasn’t necessarily thinking clearly, but the fact is, I should never have purchased these particular placemats. Why? Because the design element that made them unique, special, and desirable to me — the rooster — is smack dab in the middle of the placemat. Guess what happens when you actually use the placemats by putting a bowl or plate on them? You guessed it! The rooster gets completely covered and you lose the entire effect.
Think about the center design problem when you’re shopping for placemats. It’s a buying mistake I plan to avoid in the future.
P.S. Anyone want six center-design rooster placemats? First one to email marybeth@prettyfood.com with your name and address for shipping purposes, gets them!
