Eating out of takeout containers and using disposable cutlery is such a tacky thing to do and so unnecessary. The tendency is to wolf down the food and and quickly discard the packaging. Do you really want to be a wolfer? Of course not. Good food is meant to be savored. Transferring it to appropriate tableware heightens your enjoyment of what you’re eating.
In the moments between when you place your order and when you leave to go get it (or when it gets delivered), I know you can manage to wedge in a minute or two to set your table so that you’re ready to transfer the food to something not made of styrofoam. I was in the mood for Chinese takeout. Michael was not, but he was out and about and was willing to go by and pick it up. Since I was going to be dining alone, I made my meal inside a tray, so I could transport it wherever I decided to site and dine. Took me no time at all to move the food from the icky containers to the theme-appropriate oriental tablescape for one. After I snapped the pictures, I gave up on the chopsticks and grabbed a fork and spoon. You’ll forgive me, won’t you?
