How do I set a Christmas table? Let me count the ways! Some of the options you might have available to you may not be obvious at first. Even the color combinations may be unexpected. On this page, I’m sharing some of the Christmas table settings we have put together at our house. I hope the pictures give you some new ideas!
The only thing truly “Christmasy” about this is the little salad plate. Everything else is mix and match, any day, any season. Well, okay, the silverware holder on the right is actually a small fabric gift bag. But, other than that, I just created a table setting by getting inspiration from the salad plate colors. And it works! It was actually very pretty.
These are actually spring dishes, but when you pair them with sterling, and elegant red goblet, and lace tablecloth, they can definitely pass for December-appropriate.
New twist on using a tried and true plate. The plaid flatware and placemat, the santa mug, painted tree goblet, and ultra-fancy napkin and beaded napkin ring breathe new life into this over-used, much loved plate.
You don’t have to have Christmas dishes, per se. If you have red, white, or kelly green, putting any of those colors together evokes the look of the Christmas season. The beaded napkin ring helps, as does the wild flatware.
Weirdest napkin ring ever. I love the shape, but I got several of these at an estate sale and I think the person must have painted and fired them themselves. The pastel colors on a Christmas tree-shaped napkin ring are just a little odd No matter. I can use them — particularly when my plate has a stylized Christmas tree, it’s nice to have the napkin ring in a tree shape, too. See how the napkin is inserted so that it is not pulled all the way through? I discovered if I pulled the napkin through like normal, it makes it difficult to see the shape of the napkin ring itself. Crocheted tablecloth. Capisce shell placemat. Vintage green goblet. It all says “Merry Christmas!” Or perhaps “Feliz Navidad!”
