Capers Emporium

Located in the heart of historic New Harmony, Indiana, Capers Emporium is a “kitchen and gift adventure.”  At Capers, you will find gourmet foods and mixes, a great selection of kitchen tools and small appliances, hard-to-find essentials for busy cooks, and all the components for gracious entertaining, whether the occasion is casual or formal. With its large commercial kitchen, Capers offers cooking classes, product demonstrations, food samples.  Plus, we have a bakery!

But we are so much more than a store for cooks! Capers has a wide range of gift items that don’t involve the kitchen at all — from pocket knives to pajamas, greeting cards, tech toys, pampering products, loungewear, home decor.  It’s a destination worth driving to and you will always see new things and items you’ve never seen anywhere else.

Capers Emporium is the home for PrettyFood.com. For nearly a decade, Mary Beth Guard and her husband Michael have maintained the PrettyFood.com website as a way to share new recipes they developed, explore ideas for entertaining, spotlight cool kitchen gadgets and tools, and experiment with tablescapes.  Now, with Capers Emporium, PrettyFood.com has a real home — a large retail store where people can purchase elements to set beautiful tables, concoct wonderful meals, and find gadgets and tools to get dinner on the table more quickly and easily.

Our Hours and Location

Our open hours/days are still in flux during the pandemic. We are open 12-4 Thursday, Sunday and Monday; 12-6 on Friday, and 10-6 on Saturday. In addition, you can shop by private appointment. To schedule your appointment, call (812) 682-6112 or (405) 412-5413. We have been open Thursday-Monday 12-4. Capers Emporium is located at 602 Main St., New Harmony, IN  47631.  If you need to mail us something, use our PO Box — PO Box 400.
