I’ll pretty much celebrate anything — from “It’s the weekend!” to “I really did a good job on that thing I did.” It doesn’t take much! This was a table we set for a celebratory breakfast. It happened to be New Year’s day, but it could have been any special occasion. Mind you, if the celebratory meal includes a glug of champagne, it’s going to be on a weekend or holiday, lest you get concerned about my work habits.
It’s the little details that combine to make the tablescape a celebratory one. My roses had begun to lose their petals, so I deployed some of the loose petals as a colorful garnish on the platter. (In case you’re wondering what those things are, they are eggnog french toast, made with low carb bread and sugar-free eggnog. Fa bulous.) The center bouquet was adorned with little battery-operated rice lights. We even whipped out charger plates, something we don’t normally do at breakfast. Charger plates, lovely china plates, beautiful napkins, ultra-elegant beaded napkin rings, pretty flatware, and vintage champagne glasses.
And doesn’t the champagne look much more elegant resting in a cut glass container filled with ice? A moment later, we popped the cork and let the celebration begin!
