Don’t you just want to sit down and eat? The table looks so inviting. The new placemats came first, then I found a couple of stems of white lilies and some pale pink roses that would look great. From there, it was tweak, tweak, tweak, as you’ll see below.
These green plates matched the color in the placemats well, but with the floral embossed edge, they just looked a little busy, considering the print in the placemat.
When I first started playing with the tablescape, I pulled out these plates and dessert goblet, thinking they were a pale pink. The morning light showed they were peach and that color isn’t found anywhere in my placemats, so I rejected them.
White on white ended up being my choice. Very summery, with the placemats and the two different patterns worked well together. Simple dots on the salad plates didn’t compete with the placemats.
The hand-painted goblets were a present from Larry, our jeweler friend. Somehow, however, I didn’t think the guys would want to be drinking out of those, so I mixed it up. Pink-flowered goblets for the ladies and amethyst goblets for the guys.
Here’s a closeup. The little citron glasses will hold after dinner liqueur. See the flatware? Courtesy of Ross! I love the way it adds color to the table.
