Boo!
‘Tis the season for all things spooky, but these little morsels are definitely treat, not trick. They are simple, crunchy, cheesy crackers cut with cute cookie cutters. You can, in the alternative, make them sweet with cinnamon and Splenda/sugar. Or make them taste like Thanksgiving by combining Splenda or sugar with pumpkin pie spice. These are quick and easy Halloween snack crackers.
Ingredients:
Flour tortillas
Butter, melted
topping — grated parmesan cheese and (optional) tiny flecks of fresh parsley, or Splend/sugar mixed with a little cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Use your cookie cutters to cut shapes out of your tortillas. (Looking at mine now, those ghosts look more like PacMan creatures than they look like ghosts, but whatever! They do say Boo!)
Use a pastry brush or a silicone brush to brush the tops of your shapes with melted butter. Then sprinkle on your topping. Place onto cookie sheets and bake in a preheated oven for somewhere around 15 minutes — depending upon how small your pieces are. Check then after 10 to get a clue about where you are. Well, not really where YOU are. Where they are …in the cooking process. [Hey, I’m a lawyer. We like to be clear.]
I suppose they would keep well. I have no personal experience with any being leftover.
I used parchment paper, but in retrospect, I would say it was a waste. Don’t bother.
Cute little varmints. The best part about these little letters was that they cooked in half the time of the big ghosts, so they provided (almost) instant gratification.
