Ideas and Suggestions to Make March Beautiful

Bulbs in Vase

If you are in an area, as I am, where tulips rarely come back a second year, it’s maddening. You plant them, they bloom spectacularly once, then due to climate conditions or pesky squirrels, or whatever, they never produce again. For that reason, these tulips were plucked right out of the ground — bulb and all, carefully washed, and placed into the tall vase as a living bouquet. A little moss was glued to the top part of the vase and tied with a touch of raffia. Gorgeous!

Greenhouse Zipped

For $60, I bought a greenhouse! How cool is that?!?

I found it at my local plant nursery, and when I saw the words “No tools required,” I was hooked. It took just a few minutes to set up and I’ve stashed all kinds of herbs and other plants inside. Zip it closed to seal in the heat and the moisture and protect the plants from the cold. Unzip it during warm days to dissipate the heat build-up. Greenhouse Unzipped

I have been in basil heaven for the last two weeks as I can snip and clip to my heart’s delight. I set it up mid-February. Now that it’s March, I’m able to use tender herbs that normally I would have to wait until May to purchase. Because it has four deep shelves, it holds an amazing number of pots. Next, I think I’ll stick my dormant orchids out there, give them a little food, and wait for them to burst into bloom!

My Meyer lemon tree is laden with blossoms. I brought it into the dining room for the winter and it smells absolutely heavenly in there. I’m hoping for a bumper crop this year!
