When I went to the florist for the cash and carry discount over the weekend, I found myself gravitating toward unexpected color combinations — gorgeous orange roses, delicate lavender and purple sweet peas, green cymbidium orchids, green and purple thistle, lime green hyperium berries. I had originally intended to do a couple of small arrangements, but when I saw the colors together, I pulled out a shallow purple glass bowl, a little floral foam, and put them all together. I was quite pleased with the result.
The lilac-colored placemats and lime green plates and napkins carried our color theme through. It was a casual meal, but healthy and delicious — from spinach salad, to baked wings, green bean casserole, grilled asparagus, grilled brussel sprouts, and cauliflower mock mac and cheese made with jalapeño cheddar. Yum!
